Stress and burnout rarely start loud. They show up as tired mornings, short patience, foggy focus, trouble sleeping, and a quiet feeling of ‘I can’t keep this up’. Heavy workload, low control, unclear roles, and weak support push people from engaged to exhausted. This is a work risk you can fix with simple steps.
Stigma is the next barrier. Many stay silent because they fear labels or career harm. Stigma drops when teams hear real stories and learn small skills they can use right away. Think short team talks, honest sharing, and quick guides on how to help a co-worker who is not OK.
Psychological safety makes it easier to ask for help. People speak up when leaders set the tone, invite input, listen, and respond with care. It is a habit you build week by week. Small actions add up, like asking ‘What might we be missing’ and thanking people for raising concerns.
