Researchers from South Africa discovered a new COVID-19 variant as what we know now as Omicron. In December 2021, two (2) returning OFWs from Japan was the first identified Omicron case in the country. What is unclear for most of us is how different is the Omicron variant to the past variants such as Delta. Can the COVID-19 vaccines help us in protecting ourselves against the severe effects of the Omicron variant? And if we have been infected, how can we better manage the symptoms and recover from it?
